So Near

I looked around,
Each time trying to catch just a glimpse of you.
But somehow,
You're just too far or just never there.

I got lucky,
And found you somewhere.
My heart skipped a beat,
And I felt like only you and me were there.

I sat there,
Gazing you from afar.
Our eyes met.
And oh...Did I feel the connection.

I got up,
Wanting to say a "Hi" to you.
The nearer I got,
My knees turned weak and I walked away.

That other day,
I caught you smiling.
It was the sweetest,
You simply melted my heart away.

I can't stop smiling,
Each time I see you.
But a piece of my heart shatters,
Knowing how near you are to me.
But so out of reach.
